Stretched along the Fraser River, South Marine borders the major artery of S.W. Marine Drive and offers a mix of old properties along with the new River District community.

One of the largest geographical communities in Vancouver, South Marine is a neighbourhood that is a mix of the old (the west) and new (the east).
The rapidly expanding River District is a 130 acre master planned community located on the south eastern edge of the community, flanking the Fraser River. Residents welcome the new addition to the neighbourhood while still enjoying the original foundation to the east. You’ll find locals enjoying the outdoors, taking advantage of the pathways or simply relaxing and taking in the view.

South Marine is located on the south edge of Vancouver and bordered by Marpole, South Vancouver, Fraserview and Champlain Heights.
GET OUTSIDE
Stroll along the boardwalk and gaze at the fishing boats rolling down the Fraser.
This is the true definition of "walking the plank" in Vancouver. Although the majority of 1.5 km pathway is paved (or paving stones), there's also a good chunk of boardwalk that weaves through the marshland by the Fraser River.
Residents are always leisurely strolling, running or biking on this stretch of waterfront pathway, which happens to lead to a continuous 5 km pathway extending east into the souther edge of Burnaby.
Riverfront Park, the primary park in the neighbourhood, has basketball courts, a picnic area, playground, ultimate field and public washrooms.
AMENITIES
A new community centre and nearby schools make this area very appealing for families.
Let's not forget all the new up and coming services in the new River District community.
The River District Community Centre, located on the southern tip of Kerr Street, has drop-ins (for kids and seniors), a cardio/fitness room and yoga.
There’s no schools within the boundaries of South Marine, but just north of SW Marine Drive is several school options for families. David Oppenheimer, Captain James Cook and Sir James Douglas and Champlain Heights are nearby elementary schools. David Thompson Secondary is only a short distance away in the South Vancouver neighbourhood.

Grab a cup of coffee for your grocery run, and when your done swing by for a bottle of your favourite vino.
The hub of retail in South Marine lies within the new River District. If convenience is near the top of your list then you’re going to love this neighbourhood. You can start your day with a work out at Orange Theory, then pick up your groceries at Save-On-Foods, and cap it off by meeting a friend for Starbucks for a cup of joe. There’s something for everyone in this award-winning community.
A quick drive east on Marine Way you’ll be greeted by one of Vancouver’s largest outdoor shopping malls at Marine Way Market & Market Crossing Shopping Plaza. There’s a huge selection of retailers and restaurants on hand.
