Diverse in ethnicity, South Vancouver is showcased by the Punjabi Market around 49th and the newly revitalized Sunset Park with an amphitheatre, community garden and dog park.
This ethnically diverse community has deep working class roots.
South Vancouver is about community. From the parks to locally owned restaurants, it's a neighbourhood where you feel right at home.
Sunny and sloping south towards the Fraser River, South Vancouver is a moderately busy area where you will find kids biking along treelined streets, people out walking, families playing in the park or out for a flavourful family dinner.
The neighbourhood is home to an excellent community centre, a wide array of schools in the area and two vibrant shopping areas.

South Vancouver is located on the east side of Vancouver and bordered by South Marine, Marpole, South Cambie, Main, Fraser, Knight and Fraserview.
AMENITIES
There's sevral parks in the area for you and your furry friend.
The primary park in the neighbourhood is Sunset Park, which has just gone through a major renovation.
Three million dollars was recently invested to upgrade Sunset Park with new pathways, a playground, off-leash dog areas with fencing, skateboarding & outdoor basketball facility. George Park is on the southern section of the neighbourhood and has amply greenspace and playground. Centrally located Moberly Park has a ball diamond, playground and tennis courts. The park is also home to an excellent arts centre.

The two blocks between 51st Ave and 53rd Ave is where the amenities really shine in South Vancouver.
Sunset Community Centre and the Sunset Ice Rink are two prime recreation facilities that sit side by side on E51st Ave. The community centre features a state-of-the art fitness centre, meeting rooms, gymnasium, outdoor pool along with a youth centre and pre-school. Sunset Rink is open all year and offers a wide variety of public skating and skate lessons. Moberly Arts & Cultural Centre, intersecting Moberly Park and E60th Avenue, is community cultural hub with a sprung dance floor, meeting room, kitchen facilities and garden.
There is a total of four elementary schools nearby including Walter Moberly, Pierre Elliot Trudeau & John Henderson Elementary. High schools include David Thompson Secondary and John Oliver Secondar.
Shop & Dine
The famed Punjabi Market lies on the north west corner of the community.
The market is one of two vibrant shopping districts near the neighbourhood. On the northern border, stretched along Fraser St is eclectic South Hill with plenty of hidden gems.
The Punjabi Market (Little India) is one of the most colourful shopping and dining districts with streets that are filled with delicious scents from around the world. The district starts at the north west corner of the community (E49th Ave & Main Street) and continues south for 6 blocks.
A good selection of shops and services are located north of South Vancouver on Fraser Street at 49th Avenue. The South Hill shopping district has a wide array of banks, pharmacies and fresh vegetable markets. The challenge is when you’re hungry – where do you go to settle in for a meal in South Hill? The area is absolutely packed with delicious eats; the area is well known for its tempting menus.
Larger big box retails can be found south of Marine Way including a Real Canadian Superstore and the River District is short drive away.
