Flanking the eastern edge of Vancouver, Renfrew Heights lives up to its name due to the high elevation of the community and picturesque views of the north shore mountains and Burnaby.

A multicultural and family focused neighbourhood, Renfrew Heights has a strong sense of community, which is instilled by the centralized community centre. The centre provides excellent programs and events for younger children and teenagers, who happen to have the highest population in any neighbourhood within Vancouver.

Get Outside

This is the perfect community for those who like to get outside and explore.

Nature is plentiful in Renfrew Heights. Still Creek, is one of the few remaining streams in Vancouver. It runs through Renfrew Ravine and one of the communities best parks, Renfrew Community Park.

Renfrew Ravine is 6 hectare park is one of the only natural creeks left in the city of Vancouver. The park is incredibly lush, has tranquil walking trails, foot bridges and features interpretive signage, lookouts, seating, and beautiful foliage. The park even has a meditation labyrinth.

Of the parks in the neighbourhood, Renfrew Community Park is the highlight and spoiled with amenities.  Besides the amazing views, the park offers residents a wading pool, outdoor rink (a true rink with boards), Lacrosse Box and an off-leash dog park.  It’s also home to the Renfrew Park Community Centre.

Beaconsfield Park, which has baseball diamonds, a field hockey pitch, playground, soccer fields, and the park has lighted fields for those evening games. Falaise Park, which is closer to Grandview Highway, offers some spectacular views of the north shore mountains.

At the heart of Renfrew Heights is the state-of-the-art Renfrew Park Community Centre.

The neighbourhood is pampered with essential amenities including SkyTrain stations, great schools and one of the best community centres in the city.

Renfrew Park Community Centre is a vibrant and very active hub for residents and offer programs for all ages. The centre boasts a fitness centre, indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna and community spaces for rent to the public. 

Families in Renfrew Heights has ample schooling choices. There are 4 elementary schools including Renfrew Elementary, John Norquay Elementary, Sir Wilfred Greenfell Elementary, and Nootka Elementary.  Windermere Secondary School and Vancouver Technical Secondary School are two great choices for high school students.. If you’re looking for private school options, you may want to consider Vancouver Christian School, St. Jude’s School, Westside Montessori Academy and St. Mary’s School.

If you need, or want, to commute vs. drive, you’re in luck in Renfrew Heights. Plenty of transit buses run through the community throughout the day. The neighbourhood also has two SkyTrain stations: Renfrew and Nanaimo Station, with the easy commute to Downtown Vancouver in 20 minutes or less.

SHOP & DINE

There are a wide range of shopping and dining options conveniently located near Renfrew Heights.

From large retail and groceries on Grandview Highway to small, independent shops on E22nd Ave, locals have plenty of options for shops, services or grabbing a bite to eat.

We’ll start with Grandview and working our way up. The stretch along Grandview Highway is loaded with large name retailers like Canadian Superstore, Wal-Mart, Staples, Petsmart, and Canadian Tire. 

If you’re in the mood to “shop local” there’s a small strip of local shops & services along E22nd Avenue (right across from the community centre), where you can support your local independent retailers.

To get your shop on and get in some much-needed retail therapy, you can either drive or jump on the SkyTrain and head to Metrotown.  British Columbia’s largest shopping mall literally has everything you could want or need.
