While the official neighbourhood name is Mount Pleasant, the portion of Main Street that runs from 2nd Avenue to 33 Ave is also known as “South Main” or “SoMa”. Known for its eclectic mix of independent boutiques, vintage shops, locally-owned cafés, craft breweries, and globally inspired eateries, Main Street perfectly blends the charm of old Vancouver with the creativity of its younger, trend-savvy residents. Shoppers can explore everything from curated fashion and handmade home goods to rare vinyl, indie bookstores, and plant shops. Dining options range from vegan brunch spots and third-wave coffee roasters to international cuisine, burger joints, and upscale bistros. The district is also home to essential services like salons, wellness studios, tattoo parlors, and bike shops, creating a neighbourhood feel that’s both practical and full of character.
With murals, community events, and a strong sense of local pride, Main Street in Mount Pleasant is a true reflection of Vancouver’s cultural and creative energy.
