Killarney is a quiet neighbourhood lined with small shopping plazas and residential cul-de-sacs. It also boasts some of the largest green space in Vancouver.

Killarney sits on the south-facing slope overlooking the Fraser River. Out here in East Vancouver, the cost of housing tends to be more reasonable, but without being too far from downtown and the city centre. And as one of Vancouver’s newer neighborhoods, it feels a bit closer to nature and a little less congested.
Killarney is located on the east side of Vancouver and bordered by Collingwood, Champlain Heights, Fraserview, Knight, Victoria and Boundary Road.
We’ll touch on the community centre soon, but for now let’s stick with the outdoors, where you have tennis courts, a running track, football field and an off-leash dog park. Other parks in the area include Gordon Park with ball diamonds, and Nanaimo Park to the north.
The 5th largest park in Vancouver, Everett Crowley Park is a green sanctuary with a network of trails, winding through a transitional forest and urban wilderness. It’s located just east of the border of Killarney and an excellent place to take your pooch for an off leash walk to escape the city.
Killarney Community Centre is command central for the Killarney Community Association, who organize several programs and events for residents in the area.
The community centre is a fantastic venue – locals are very lucky to have amenities as their fingertips like pre-school and childcare, a seniors centre, billiards area, a full sized gymnasium, dance studio, swimming pool with a steam room and whirlpool, ice rink, and fitness centre. Outside, there are tennis courts and a playground at nearby Killarney Park.
The major artery through the community is dotted with all sorts of shops & services, including large brand names like London Drugs and Safeway.
Champlain Square, on Kerr Street, is minutes away and packed with great shops & services including Kin’s Farm Market, Starbucks, Shoppers Drug Mart, Your Independent Grocery Store and a BC Liquor Store.
Just across SW Marine Drive is the new River District with a Save-On-Foods, Everything Wine, Orange Theory, restaurants and banks.
