Neighbourhood Guide

Strathcona

East Side, Vancouver
The renewed interest in Strathcona has generated a mix of trendy retail stores and cool cafes stretched along rows of funky warehouse buildings and has become a bit of a hipster hideout.

Welcome to Vancouver's oldest neighbourhood.

It has history, a lot of history. As you walk the streets, you quickly realize that pieces of that history still stand today. The community is proud of its diversity, and it shows within the residents and businesses alike.

How best to describe Strathcona in a nutshell – It’s got an old school neighbourhood feel with a trendy inner city twist. It’s an area where children roam free, dogs chase Frisbees, and people hold yard sales and join in the annual grilled cheese sandwich day. Row houses run with the massive tree-lined streets and merge with century old heritage homes and warehouse buildings. It’s a pedestrian-friendly hood where homemade signs tell cars passing by to slow down.

Quaint & quirky, this historic hood is a place where you can spend days uncovering so many hidden gems.
